Well Grounded: Traditional Management of Root Vegetables in Northwestern North America

In celebration of the inauguration of Dr. Miles K. Davis as the 20th president of Linfield College, Dr. Nancy Turner (emeritus professor of environmental studies at the University of Victoria, British Columbia) presents a talk discussing the importance of roots as food and as part of people's knowledge systems. Turner discusses how people have managed not only to harvest roots but also to promote their growth by maintaining, sustaining, and improving their growing conditions over time. She also addresses the decline in the use of roots and a renewed interest in caring for and using them.
